We serve a great God who gives us boldness in our talk, swiftness in our feet, and courage in our hearts to approach people with a Bible in our hand and show them how to get saved. We believe that this spirit filled, humble and faithful soulwinning turns nations upside down.
This time, we met in the city of Leipzig as it was convenient for most of us to come to. Brothers Kay and Antony from Baden-Württemberg, Brother Glenn and his wife Elly from Weimar, Brother Anselm from Görlitz, Brother Piotr and his wife Marta all the way from Warsaw, Poland to work with a small contingent of soulwinners already living in Leipzig. We were 11 people in number and we planned the weekend to spend time in fellowship and to go soulwinning throughout the day. The goal was to approach people in the city, public areas, pedestrian zones and parks. We divided ourselves into smaller groups and assigned areas to cover.
Two salvations on the first day
Although Saturday was the local Sodomite day and there were many freaks walking around parading their filth and wickedness, we got two persons saved. Brother Anselm spoke to two young boys—about 13 years old near a skating ramp. One of them said he does not believe that Jesus rose from the dead and chose not to accept. But his friend, the other kid, believed and called on the name of Jesus to give him salvation as Brother Anselm presented him the gospel.
The second encounter was between Brother Kay and a man from Nigeria. He said he was Christian and believed in Jesus but said he would go to Hell if he had committed a sin and did not ask for forgiveness before he died. Brother Kay showed him from the Bible that eternal life means eternal and when we believe in Jesus, he forgives our sins forever. After 30 minutes of discussion, this man believed the Good News and called on the name of Jesus to be saved.
Brother Antony who has been practicing the gospel presentation since a few days, finally had the opportunity to talk to someone who gave him time and an ear. The listener whose name also happened to be Antony agreed with everything that was said but could not decide. He wanted to take some time to think about it before he would believe in Jesus. However, a seed was planted that will eventually make him think.
During the evening, we had a sweet time of fellowship at my place. Some of my friends prepared food and joined us for a time of singing and sharing. We sang a few hymns together, lifting up our voices in praise and honor to the King of Kings: To God be the Glory, Blessed Assurance, Marching to Zion, Be Thou my Vision, Bringing in the Sheaves, and a few Psalms from the King James Bible. After dinner, Brother Anselm explained the Bible way to Heaven and we planted seeds in the hearts of my friends concerning the eternal security of believers.
The next day, we were eight of us. We started with breakfast and coffee, and set out again to the city. I spoke to a guy called Martin who probably had a Catholic background. He patiently listened to me and believed that faith in Jesus alone is fundamental to having eternal life and works do not get us there. He believed that Jesus died for him and paid it all. I led him in prayer and he called on the name of Jesus to give him eternal life.
Finally, we met a man from Spain who said he was a Christian. I asked him if he was sure that he would go to Heaven when he died. He replied, “Yes! Because I believe that Jesus died for me.” I asked what he could do to lose his salvation, and he answered, “nothing” because Jesus paid it all. He added further that there are also those who believe that you could lose your salvation when you are unrepentant of your sins. He asked us to which group we belong to. I immediately confirmed the former and showed him from the Bible that when we believe in Jesus, we have eternal security which we can never lose. He agreed and was glad to meet us.
He was standing alone in the streets and was looking for a church to attend, as he was new to Leipzig. I gave him my contact info; hopefully, he writes to me so that we could go soulwinning together. His name happens to be Miracle—yea, that’s his name.
It goes without saying—“Three souls and a Miracle”. This was a successful event. We had a great time of fellowship. God has taken a huge step in our direction and blessed our soulwinning ministry. We are now even more charged to go out and win more souls for Jesus as the days unfold.
